Past Simple

Past Simple is very simple. Look at this presentation.

Slipping Away (Moby)

This song has been used with primary students (5th and 6th). The melody is simple and the vocabulary is easy. Plus, the videoclip shows the words in the song, so the students can associate the word pronounciation with how it’s written.

It can be used with listening activities like filling the gaps (they have a copy of the lyrics with some spaces in blank for them to fill in with the correct word) or simply singing the song, which again helps a lot to fix the correct pronounciation.

Slipping Away (Moby)

All that we needed was right
The threshold is breaking tonight

Open to everything happy and sad
Seeing the good when it’s all going bad
Seeing the sun when I can’t really see
Hoping the sun will at least look at me

Focus on everything better today
All that I needed I never could say
Hold on to people, they’re slipping away
Hold on to this while it’s slipping away

All that we needed tonight
Are people who love us and live
I know how it feels to need
Oh when we leave here, you’ll see

Open to everything happy and sad
Seeing the good when it’s all going bad
Seeing the sun when I can’t really see
Hoping the sun will at least look at me

Focus on everything better today
All that I needed I never could say
Hold on to people, they’re slipping away
Hold on to this while it’s slipping away

So long
So long

Open to everything happy and sad
Seeing the good when it’s all going bad
Seeing the sun when I can’t really see
Hoping the sun will at least look at me

Focus on everything better today
All that I needed I never could say
Hold on to people they’re slipping away
